Crowns & Bridges in Sarasota, FL
Missing and damaged teeth really have a way of getting in the way of enjoying life. Whether you can no longer comfortably chew the foods you used to love or you feel self-conscious about smiling, you’ll be happy to know that we restore your teeth to full functionality using custom-made dental restorations like crowns and bridges.
What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped shell that fits over the entire tooth, covering and protecting it. Each crown is made individually to blend in beautifully with your other teeth.
Crowns can be made from a range of materials, and each has its own specific advantages. Our patients love crowns made from porcelain. Not only are they strong and durable, they are also practically indistinguishable from natural teeth. If you are in need of a crown, Dr. Aygen will discuss your options with you and recommend the type of crown that will give you the best results, based on which tooth needs to be repaired.
We use crowns to treat a range of common concerns here in our Sarasota dental office, including:
- Repairing a cracked or broken tooth
- Restoring a tooth that has been damaged by trauma or decay
- Building up teeth damaged by erosion or grinding
- Concealing severely stained or poorly shaped teeth
- Protecting a tooth weakened by root canal therapy
- Replacing a missing tooth as part of a dental implant
What Are Dental Bridges?
Dental bridges use a combination of crowns and artificial teeth to replace one or more missing teeth. Crowns affixed to the adjacent teeth (or dental implants) hold replacement teeth (known as “pontics”) in the spaces left by the missing teeth. The replacement teeth complete your smile and restore your functionality so that you can chew foods with ease and comfort.
The Restoration Process
At our Sarasota dental office, all of our restorations are crafted by dental labs that we trust and have long working relationships with. Dr. Aygen has high standards for our restorations. We want your dentistry to be strong, beautiful, and long-lasting – just like you do!
To begin the process, your teeth will be prepped for the restorations, and then we’ll take impressions, measurements, and photos, which will be sent to the lab along with precise instructions from Dr. Aygen. If needed, we may fit you with a temporary restoration to protect your teeth.
Once the restorations are back from the lab, we’ll call you back to our office, examine the restorations with you, and check the fit. Once we know everything is perfect, your restoration will be bonded into place. You’ll leave our office with a new, complete, fully functional smile!
