Dental Implant Placement in Sarasota, FL

Woman | dental implants sarasota flIf you are missing teeth, you probably have a number of questions about your options. If you’re missing one or a few teeth, you might be wondering if a bridge is right for you. If multiple teeth are missing, you may be considering dentures.

Both of these options are reasonable solutions for replacing your missing teeth. They will complete your smile and allow you to chew food again comfortably. But in the long run, there may be an even better solution that not only looks and feels like natural teeth but also functions in such a way that it can help preserve your long-term oral health.

Dental implants are an innovative technology that we’re excited to provide to our patients. Dr. Aygen is skilled in the planning and placement of dental implants and uses the latest CT technology for precision and control.

What Are Dental Implants?

Each dental implant is essentially an artificially made tooth root that we place surgically into the bone in your jaw. Because the root is made of a metal that your body can easily accept, it integrates with your bone to fully become a part of you. We allow the area to heal and then the post is topped with a custom-made restoration, which can be a crown, a bridge, or even dentures.

What Makes Dental Implants So Special?

The roots of your teeth and the bone in your jaw have a special relationship. The roots help stimulate the bone to maintain its density and the bone helps hold the root (and the tooth) in place. When you lose a tooth, however, this relationship ends. Without the root to stimulate it, the bone begins to resorb, becoming thinner and more fragile.

As your bone deteriorates, other teeth become affected. The teeth immediately adjacent to the space left by the missing teeth are likely to tip towards the empty space, becoming loose in the sockets. Eventually, you are likely to lose more teeth.

Dental implants put a stop to this cycle. Because the post of the implant is placed in the jaw, it functions like your natural root, stimulating the bone to continue maintaining itself and protecting the health of your remaining teeth.

Our patients love dental implants because they look and feel so natural, but you can see why as your dentist, Dr. Aygen is excited about them too!

High-Tech Placement for Better Results

As you can probably imagine, when we place dental implants, it’s important to get it right the first time. Dr. Aygen believes in advanced technology that allows him to do exactly that. By using imaging with computed tomography, Dr. Aygen can see the precise location where the post should go for the best possible results.

If your teeth have been missing for a while, we can also discuss the possibility of bone grafts. This procedure builds up your bone so that we can place implants in people who might otherwise not be good candidates.
