How do I know if I need a root canal?
Often, a painful toothache is the first indication patients have that something is seriously wrong. If you are experiencing any dental pain, please call our office immediately so that we can evaluate you to treat and relieve your pain!
When possible, however, we prefer to catch an infection or other problem developing in your tooth long before it ever causes you any pain. Some signs that may indicate that something is wrong include: increased sensitivity, swelling in the gums, a pimple-like lesion, or darkening of the tooth. If you have noticed any of these signs, schedule a visit so that we can check it out and see what’s going on.
Routine visits to our office for examinations and cleanings will also help us detect problems before they cause you pain. Dr. Aygen will look carefully for any signs of a developing problem, and infections and other issues that require root canal therapy can be spotted using dental x-rays. Patients are often surprised to hear that they need a root canal because they haven’t experienced any pain yet, but we want to prevent pain for our patients whenever we can.
If you have noticed any worrisome symptoms – or you are due for a cleaning and examination – please call our Sarasota dental office today!
